CONFIDENTIAL has just had word that Living Ventures cocktail chain The Alchemist will open in MediaCityUK early next year.
The Alchemist MediaCityUK will boast a 100-seater restaurant, with a further 45 covers in the bar and 65 out on the terrace overlooking the water
Rumours of the move first circulated in November when planning docs for The Bund at Dock 9 (pictured) - located beside The Lowry theatre – appeared to name the bar as the prospective tenants.
Now a spokesperson for Living Ventures has confirmed that the bar brand – which specialises in experimental concoctions, scientific paraphernalia and prawn lollipops – will join the likes of Damson, Pier Eight and Cau amongst the expanding food and drink scene in Salford Quays.
Bosses say the quirky Reid Architects-designed structure will boast a 100-seater restaurant, with a further 45 covers in the bar and 65 out on the terrace overlooking the water. Floor to ceiling glazing, meanwhile, will afford punters ‘wonderful views’ across the whole site, including architect Daniel Libeskind’s fantastic £30m Imperial War Museum North and the new headquarters of both the BBC and ITV.
Stephen Wild, managing director of MediaCityUK, said: "The Alchemist quickly made its mark in Manchester and is distinguished for its stylish yet inviting interiors, creative mixologists and varied food menu – so we are delighted they’ll be expanding their brand here at MediaCityUK.
“The community here is constantly evolving and it’s vital to have a diverse, high quality offering of bars and restaurants”.
The Alchemist MediaCityUK will follow openings in Liverpool, Birmingham and Alderley Edge, continuing the brands rapid expansion funded by Palatine’s recent £18m private equity boost.
