WEDNESDAY 27 March saw the introduction of live Manchester Council meetings being available on digital formats including smartphones, laptops and tablets. Meetings will be viewable here.
Councillor Nigel Murphy, lead member for IT for Manchester City Council, said, “As a council we are committed to using technology wherever possible to improve access to our services and to the democratic process.
"One element of this is enabling residents to watch full council meetings, where decisions are being taken which might affect their lives, without having to travel to the town hall.
"This is something we’re delivering using existing in-house resources rather than buying expensive new pieces of kit. It’s on a trial basis at the moment, but we want to give residents a sneak preview and get their feedback to ensure it works as well as possible.”
