Fresh and fabulous, that’s the food offer at the Derby Arms

FAMOUS for its fabulous food-producing heritage, Lancashire now has another reason for you to visit if you fancy getting your fill of fantastic eats and drinks. Set in the picturesque Ribble Valley between the town of Longridge and the village of Chipping, the Derby Arms is dishing up a delicious daily changing menu brimming with signature seafood dishes, hearty British classics and a choice of Sunday roasts.

The team at the Derby Arms is particularly passionate about seafood as the pub has a seafaring heritage – founder Joycelyn’s father is a renowned fish merchant and her family history can trace an involvement in the fishing industry dating back to the 18th century. This sees the food style at the Derby Arms leaning towards light and fresh seafood dishes, reflected in the menu, which is devised every day to allow the kitchen to make the most of whatever fish and seafood has just been landed on the nearby North West coast.

You should find something for everyone, whether you’re hanging out with friends, celebrating with family or enjoying a special dining experience as a couple.

Just as important as the seafood specials, hearty meat dishes and British country classics have their place firmly on the menu – we all love the friendly informality of pubs, after all, and these comforting dishes are a must-eat after a bracing walk with the dog on the fells or on a day of inclement weather enjoyed sitting by one of the many open fires dotted about the pub. Pie of the week is one such choice; three cuts of 28 day dry-aged Lancashire beef is another.

Sitting alongside is creative contemporary world food – think Malaysian seafood curry with prawn crackers or locally reared Goosnargh duck with madras and cardamom scented rice – so you should find something for everyone, whether you’re hanging out with friends, celebrating with family or enjoying a special dining experience as a couple. Sunday roasts with all the trimmings are a favourite at the weekend, and there’s a plentiful game selection on the menu during open season.

The Derby Arms makes the most of the best seasonal and regional produce available from market and sourced direct from local farmers and makers – Goosnargh chicken, Morecambe Bay plaice, Longridge ice cream, Lancashire cheeses and much more.
