RESIDENTS are being invited to share their views on the proposed development of a major regeneration site in Salford. 

The new development will also see the main facade and distinctive roof of the Bell Tower building being retained and refurbished to ensure the character of the street remains. 

English Cities Fund (ECf) will be sharing its proposals for Plot E3 – a key development site that forms part of the wider Salford Central regeneration scheme – on Thursday September 13, at St Philip’s Church, in Wilton Place between 3.30pm and 8pm.

 The public event will feature information boards and members of the project team will be on hand to talk through the proposals. They will be giving out forms and gathering feedback on the proposals for Plot E3, which sits between Chapel Street, Islington Way, Barrow Street and Wroe Street. 

The proposals will see the construction of a complete block of new buildings, ranging from six storeys fronting onto Chapel Street to three storeys facing Barrow Street. These buildings will contain new apartments, townhouses and commercial premises, including a local convenience store.  

The new development will also see the main facade and distinctive roof of the Bell Tower building being retained and refurbished to ensure the character of the street remains. 

Phil Mayall, development director at ECf, said: “This event marks a milestone in bringing new development to Chapel Street and it is a big step towards the wider regeneration of Salford Central. 

“We are really excited to share our initial proposals and find out what local residents think. We would very much like to hear people’s thoughts and I’d encourage anyone with an interest to come down and get involved.” 

Salford Central – a 44 acre regeneration scheme – is being delivered by ECf – a joint venture between Muse Developments, Legal & General and The Homes & Communities Agency – working with development partner Salford City Council. 

When complete, Salford Central – which is made up of two inter-dependent, but distinct areas, Chapel Street and New Bailey – will create around 11,000 new jobs, 220,000 square metres of commercial space, 849 new homes and 390 hotel rooms.
