SAD to report that after 18 years Jason Orange has sold the Castle Quay apartment that was for years the centre of worship for adoring fans.
He was very involved at the beginning and it was nice to get the instruction – although we obviously would not market it as his apartment.
Despite the odd trip back to the city to see the family it seems the second lowest profile member of Take That wants a base in London.
And there are reports that the Crumpsall born boy has been looking at a £5.5m pad in Holborn.
A little bit different to the one bed at Castlefield which has just sold at £142,500.
Which, despite needing a bit of upgrading sounds a bargain as it comes with parking and is in a much loved building in a great spot now the threat of an ugly Peel development seems to have disappeared.
It had been on the market since last November and has been bought by a couple wanting a city base.
Liz Kenworthy from agents Jordan Fishwick did the valuation after Orange walked into the offices on Deansgate.
She said: “The apartment was empty most of the time as he does not really come to Manchester any more and he decided to sell.
“He was very involved at the beginning and it was nice to get the instruction – although we obviously would not market it as his apartment. (Er...why? Ed)
“Sales are strong right now and it is the perfect city base.”
Someone else selling up in Manchester is ex Liverpool and England footballer Steve Mc Manaman. He is a serious property investor and while former team-mate Robbie Fowler may go for bulk buying terraced properties he has invested in top end stock.
He owns several properties in the city but has instructed different agents to sell a couple.
A penthouse in Century Buildings, that was rented out to Everton’s John Heitinga, has just been sold by Liz for £720,000.
She said: “It went to a first time buyer for cash.”
