Aperol cocktails and sandy toes all round at The Oast House

Consider just a week ago people were leaving bedsheets in the freezer and considering creative things to do with handfans. Then take a look out of your window. That’s right. Hail. In July.

But as fast as life changes, it changes right back and our good friends at the Met Office (via the app) assure us that the weekend will be gently sunny. Perfect weather to try out the new Italian beach bar arriving at The Oast House.

We wanted to bring all the beauty and joyful vibes of the Italian beach scene to the UK

The Aperol Spritz and Spiaggia is here to transport frazzled and/or drenched city dwellers from Manchester’s temperamental city streets (weather-wise at least) to the sunny serenity of the Mediterranean coast. Spiaggia, if you hadn't guessed, is Italian for beach and while we are not talking full-on Amalfi coast, the sandy pop-up is the ideal spot for an early-evening aperitivo and, in the best Italian tradition, a good people-watching session.

If you can’t take a selfie in Positano then a candid snap in Spinningfields might just achieve the same effect as long you angle it right. The beach bar is set against photogenic white sands and guests will want to make sure to include the jet ski and Fiat 500 in Aperol’s signature orange to complete the look.

Aperol Spritz Time At Cicchetti Manc

A beach for Manchester

The beach bar will be serving classic Aperol Spritzes and light bites from Thursday 5 August to Sunday 15 August. Over the two-week event, DJs will be taking the stage to kick off early evening summer drinks every day. Expect “beach party tunes” and all-round good times.

The Oast House has form in bringing much-needed holiday vibes to Manchester city centre. A previous wheeze saw an air "Oastess" trolley delivering drinks to the outside bar area for that in-flight feeling. If that was the journey then perhaps we have now arrived at the destination. We are looking forward to seeing how The Oast House represents the post-holiday comedown in September.

Spiaggia and spritzes

Loris Contro, Aperol UK Brand Ambassador, said: “The taste of an Aperol Spritz is enough to transport you to the shores of Italy, and The Aperol Spritz and Spiaggia is here to make it a reality. At a time when not many of us are able to enjoy an overseas getaway, we wanted to bring all the beauty and joyful vibes of the Italian beach scene to the UK. Swing in the sun and escape to the Mediterranean whilst sipping on a refreshing and flavourful Aperol Spritz – I’ll say Salute to that!”

Danny Leach, General Manager of The Oast House said: “We are so excited to bring a slice of Italy to the heart of Manchester. It is often said Manchester has everything but a beach, and thanks to The Aperol Spritz & Spiaggia at The Oast House we can now say it does! With so many of us missing out on holidays abroad yet again this summer, we’re delighted we can bring the beach bar vibes closer to home, with a truly authentic Italian Spiaggia.”

Whilst guests are able to walk in and enjoy the Spiaggia for free, it is advised that beach-goers get in there quick to secure the best spot on the beach by booking a reservable area online. To book simply visit The Oast House beach bar event page.
