ICELANDAIR is marking the 10th anniversary of its Manchester-Reykjavik route – a decade that has seen it expand via its Reykjavik hub to reach 16 gateways in the USA and Canada.
Yet when it started in 2006 the service operated only twice weekly and the timing of flights didn’t easily connect to the transatlantic routes. Things have moved on with four weekly flights in the summer increasing now to daily frequencies in the winter months with fast and easy connections onwards to destinations such as Chicago (pictured), Seattle, Portland, Denver, Minneapolis and Anchorage.
Stephen Turner, Commercial Director at Manchester Airport, said “We are delighted to celebrate ten years of Icelandair flying from Manchester Airport, the UK’s Global Gateway for the North. Reykjavik continues to be incredibly popular with our 21m passengers, who come from as far north as Scotland and as south as the Midlands. We look forward to celebrating many more milestones with Icelandair in the future.”
