"Cooking doesn’t get tougher than this" - the Masterchef winner cooks for Confidential following the launch of his new Manchester restaurant
Masterchef 2015 champ Simon Wood launched his much anticipated first restaurant, Wood, in Manchester this week.
Situated amongst the emerging food and booze scene on First Street, this spacious and modern 80-cover venue is already attracting a lot of interest from customers eager to try his cooking - billed as unintimidating fine dining matching ‘powerful flavours with playful authenticity.’
As is his way, Confidential's Gordo insisted on being the first in line and parked himself at the Chef’s Table in front of the kitchen pass along with editor David Blake, food writer Deanna Thomas and editor-at-large Jonathan Schofield, to sample the kind of dishes diners can expect when they order Wood’s special seven course tasting menu (including a few tastes of his Masterchef-winning dishes)
The team enjoyed an afternoon of delicious seasonal flavours, layers of interesting textures and they *might* also have enjoyed a little too much wine as well. Take a look at Confidential’s video to discover what to expect from a visit to this exciting new Manchester restaurant.
We don’t think Gregg Wallace has to worry too much about Gordo taking his job…
