LOOKS set to be a wet one in Manchester this summer.
Following the announcement of a 300 ft waterslide heading to Heaton Park this July, the Hot Tub Cinema party is the latest event set to make a big splash in the city.
We encourage our guests to dress up, sing, dance, drink, play and most of all enjoy their favourite films
Originally launched in 2006 as a private party for friends in Exeter, the parties went public in Hackney and now 'the 'only event in the world to combine Hot Tubs and cinema' has staged successful shows in London, New York and Ibiza.
From Friday 12 to Sunday 14 June, twenty hot tubs, 120 guests per night, a licensed bar and a 'tub side waiter' will take to Islington Mill warehouse in Salford.
This year the 'Tub Tropicana Tour' is scheduled to cover six UK cities including Manchester, Bristol and Birmingham, and one major European city.
Looks positively bonkers, but won't it be a be a bit nippy?
"During the summer most of our screenings are outdoors and open to the elements. Occasionally, this can mean dealing with the great British climate, "says Asher Charman, Hot Tub Cinema Party founder, "but all our events go ahead whatever the weather.
"We always ensure there are some sheltered areas before and after the screening, and during the film you’re going to be in a hot tub filled with 40C water, so there’s no better place to be during a summer shower."
Advertised so far for Manchester are The Lion King, Dirty Dancing and Hot Tub Time Machine - partiers are not expected to sit down and shut up either...
“Our guiding mantra here at Hot Tub Cinema is that we don’t just watch films, we celebrate them," explains Charman. "We encourage our guests to dress up, sing, dance, drink, play and most of all enjoy their favourite films, alongside friends old and new. Hot Tub Cinema is calling for people out there who live life with a healthy sense of the luxurious and humorous.
Tickets start from £20 and guests are able book a whole tub to share with up to six friends, or can buy tickets to share with others and make some new pals along the way.
The Hot Tub Cinema team suggest packing: swim-wear, a towel, a warm cover-up and flip flops for toilet trips, money for drinks and food, a plastic bag for wet items after the screening.
Punters are also encouraged to bring: fancy-dress, hats, inflatables and 'other aquatic novelties and curiosities'.
Hot Tub Cinema Party hits Islington Mill from 12-14 July - tickets go on sale 29 April.
