Vegan, Korean corndogs, reimagined Pot Noodles and queues for days (for gravy tacos) - the most shareable social content in MCR

It's approximately one month until beer gardens can open again in Manchester. But in the meantime, our food heroes are still banging out some great grub you can pick up or have delivered to your door. If you're collecting, you might have to join a very long queue though.

Scroll on for our new weekly round-up of funny, filthy, full-fat social media content from Manchester's food and drink scene.

Buon compleanno Sicilian NQ

It was our pals at Sicilian NQ's birthday on Friday 5th March and this video of the launch made us more than a bit dewy-eyed at the time before the pandemic. We hope nights like this are back in our lives, safely, soon.

We can fucking do it!

Nibble NQ's Lauren Irlam is one of many brilliant women in Manchester's hospitality scene, getting on with doing a cracking job of running a small business. We loved the sentiment in this cross stitch she shared on Twitter for International Women's Day.

Taco-bout a queue

Everyone's taco-ing about Birria Brothers' tacos 'n gravy being served out of the Koffee Pot. We brought them to your attention back in Feb and the weekend just gone saw queues right up Oldham Street with some people at the back sadly left wanting. They're stocking up again as we speak - if you want to try your luck next weekend.

K-pop: meat-free Korean corndogs

Meaty liquid, not your thing? We reckon this one's the next must-have, and it's vegan. Deep-fried spuds, vegan hotdog, cornmeal and stripy, spicy sauces. Wholesome Junkies open their new kitchen in Piccadilly on March 11th, this is one of the many plant-based delights you'll be able to get your (seitan-based) chops around then.

Six By Nico's not guilty

Guilty pleasures

Six By Nico has released another sextet of a set menu from its Masterclass series. This one's called 'Guilty Pleasures' - which we don't believe in, incidentally, pleasure should be guilt-free. It's a reimagining of some of your favourite cheap 'n cheerful dinners. Have you ever seen a Pot Noodle or cheeseburger that looks quite like these?

Basque-ing in cheesecake glory

Basque cheesecake

Pollen is everyone's fave, every week. But this slice of burnished basque cheesecake had us hankering after the overstuffed tiny bars of San Sebastian. Oh holidays, we miss you.

Katsu-per

Pho Cue only opened in the middle of the pandemic last year and is already hot stuff on Instagram. Posts like this one with that steaming katsu curry explain why.

Banh-vegan

Sticking with Vietnamese food, these vegan, tofu-based Banh Mi from Banh Vi via the wonderful Eat Well Marketplace caught our eye too.

Dem creme eggs dough

If you're already thinking about (whisper it) Easter, and you've got the sweet tooth to end all dentists, you'll like this. Northern Quarter restaurant Fress has been staying fress throughout the pandemic by selling big jars of cookie dough. These easter-themed ones are worth shelling out for.

We can't curry on much longer

We hear ya, Mughli. We really do.

Thanks a bunch, Mum

Ooh, one more thing before you go. It's not food-related but we think you'll like it.

We’ve got a competition to win £125 worth of Frog flowers for yer mam (or yer man, why not?) over on our Insta. Get involved.
