BELLE Vue Dogs has just launched a new menu that has the potential to steal your attention away from the action on the track for a few moments at least.
It's served in the Grandstand Restaurant where the tables are in tiers so that you can dine in comfort while you watch the races. It's billed as 'Good British Food' – a perfect match for the classically British sport going on outside.
Dishes include traditional dishes and modern takes on old favourites. We like the sound of the starter of Field mushroom rarebit with a HP dressing and the delightful Trio of melon and prosciutto which is served with light chilli dressing, coriander leaves and pomegranate.
For mains, we'd go for Britain’s best sausage and mash which features Cumberland, beef and Guinness, and chicken and apricot sausages on cheddar and leek mash with onion gravy and peas. Other options include a choice of steaks served with handmade chips, button mushrooms, grilled tomato, and a crunchy salad.
If you're looking for something lighter, how about the Mushroom stroganoff served in a tortilla basket on a bed of rice, or perhaps the Baked salmon fillet served with asparagus wrapped in prosciutto, new potatoes, and Chantenay carrots?
Homely puddings include the Hedgerow apple and blackberry crumble, and the child-pleasing Chocolate Crunchie giant ice-cream sundae. This is topped with freshly whipped cream, a sprinkling of Smarties rubble, a flake and a cherry. Someone's going to have a grin on their face when this arrives at the table.
Adults may prefer the slightly more understated profiteroles, or the vanilla cheesecake with a raspberry coulis and freshly whipped cream.
Dining is available at a set price of £29.95 for four courses (supplements for the steak and giant sundae), which makes this a bit of a bargain meal out.
And with their 2-for-1 discounts for bigger parties, you could be paying as little as £15 per person on a Thursday and £22.50 on a Friday. They've also got some all-inclusive added- value packages for smaller parties that include a drink and a bet.
