Save a tenner all September with our special offer at Chakalaka
SOUTH African cuisine wasn’t really on the map in Manchester until Chakalaka landed in the Northern Quarter earlier in the year. Since opening their Oldham Street doors, the Chakalaka team have taken the casual eating and drinking scene by storm, so much so that they had to close briefly for a refit to help them cater for more customers.
To take your tastebuds on a trip to the Rainbow Nation now they’re back open, we’ve teamed up with Chakalaka to offer you, our loyal readers, a very special exclusive offer
If you’ve not yet been to check out their South African specialities and customary hospitality, you’re missing out – so to encourage you to take your tastebuds on a trip to the Rainbow Nation now they’re back open, we’ve teamed up with Chakalaka to offer you, our loyal readers, a very special exclusive offer.
Head to the South African bar and kitchen this month and enjoy a bottle of Western Cape wine, worth £15, and a mezze board, worth £17, for just £22. We know, it’s a complete steal. This deal is available only to Manchester Confidential readers, all day Thursday and Sunday throughout September. Worth £32, yours for £22 – all you need to do is book a table in advance and quote ManConMezze.
So what’s it entail? Well, the mezze boards – meat or veggie – are perfect if you’re not sure what to order, or you fancy a taste of all the best South African classics. For meat fans, there’s a board featuring Chakalaka’s famous Boerewors, made especially for the restaurant by a local South African butcher using beef and pork plus a special mix of spices for a proper tasty take on the traditional sausage that’s hugely popular on any South African BBQ or Braai. The meat board also includes Biltong Mac & Cheese, which is topped with the protein-packed dry cured beef South African speciality.
There’s also Samoosas served with a mango dip and Piri Piri Fries, which also appear on the veggie board, alongside vegan Chakalaka Spring Rolls, served with a carrot and sesame seed butter, Cheesy Maize Balls, which come on a bed of spicy bean or carrot and tomato relish, your choice, and veg-filled Sweet Chilli Bites, crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside.
Wine-wise, we’re talking Roos Estate Western Cape – full-bodied Shiraz or crisp Chenin Blanc.
