Gary Neville’s Relentless Developments has announced its £400m St Michael’s development will be home to W Hotels and W Residences after unveiling the major deal with Marriott International today.

The swanky new development from the former Manchester United captain will sit in the centre of the city, just a few minutes’ walk from St Peter's Square and will be known as St Michael’s. St Michael’s will offer hotel-inspired living across 217 apartments, giving buyers the chance to purchase a permanent residence within Manchester’s bustling city centre hub. The apartments are set to go on sale in November with buyers able to take up occupancy from Q1 of 2027.

W Residences Manchester will be the first of its kind outside of the country’s capital and is one of only 20 worldwide. The globally-recognised brand joins a raft of international companies at the transformative St Michael’s development after record-breaking deals were signed with law firms, Pinsent Masons and Hill Dickinson and Nikkei restaurant brand, Chotto Matte.

There will also be a W Hotel within the 41-storey building with 162 rooms; also set to open in Q1 of 2027. W Manchester aims to bring bold design, distinctive dining and ‘always-on programming’ to the city as well as signature spaces including the Living Room, WET deck, W Lounge, AWAY Spa and FIT fitness centre.

The luxury residences will offer owners all the amenities and services of a W Hotel, including 24-hour concierge, round-the-clock in-residence dining, laundry and dry cleaning.

If that wasn’t enough, the residences and hotel will sit alongside 75,000 sq. ft of office space at No.2 St Michael’s; the second phase of the scheme which is being brought to the market through a collaboration between Relentless Developments and Salboy.

This will comprise nine floors of office space and is expected to be the first fully Net Zero Carbon commercial development in the city, both in operation and delivery.

St Michael’s is aiming to set new standards in quality, aesthetic and experience in the city, becoming a high-profile destination for work, stay and play. A public square connects the two buildings and will play host to the historic Sir Ralph Abercromby pub which is being retained following a substantial refurbishment.
