MANCHESTER Cathedral is offering the public a chance to go down in history and become a part of the very foundations of the building, or at least a chance to sponsor part of the floor.
When the work is completed, a virtual map of the floor plan will be uploaded to the Cathedral’s website. The tile sponsorship will be recorded in a permanent list
The site has been occupied as a place of worship since 632AD and seen hundreds of years of progress throughout its lifespan. Currently, the building is in the beginning stages of a project that will see the entire nave floor of the Cathedral replaced.
Manchester Cathedral wants everybody to get involved.
By sponsoring one of the new floor tiles, not only will the public be supporting the very important work of the Cathedral; they will also be a part of the history of the building.
When the work is completed, a virtual map of the floor plan will be uploaded to the Cathedral’s website. The tile sponsorship will be recorded in a permanent list, which will be available online and kept as part of the Cathedral’s archives.
Tiles can be sponsored by visiting The Cathedral on the Street (located beside the West door of Manchester Cathedral): write down your name or the name of the person or organisation you wish to dedicate the tile to, and place your £10.00 gift in a Manchester Cathedral Development Project gift-aid envelope.
Alternatively, £10 donations can be sent directly to the Director of Fundraising and Development at Manchester Cathedral with cheques made payable to Manchester Cathedral Development Trust.
The Very Reverend Rogers Govender, Dean of Manchester said: “I hope people will be able to support the Cathedral in this way, as well as in prayer, as we begin this exciting restoration project for future generations.
