FOR a flea-ting weekend, Chorlton’s Irish Club will be transformed into an expanse of boutique stalls peddling local wares, vintage clothes and culinary temptations.
Fleasy Street market is taking place in the leafy Manchester suburb near Beech Road Park on Sunday August 12 from 1pm-7pm. The thrifty new community driven event will feature upcoming designers and craftspeople alongside more established retailers.
Bridging the gap between a summer of sport and the August bank holiday weekend, the grounds of the Irish Club will host this summer affair which aims to fuse local creativity, entertainment and artistry.
Food lovers will have the chance to hop between a collection of alfresco food stalls which will be serving a variety of signature dishes. To wash it all down there will also be a specialist cocktail stand mixing refreshing fruity concoctions alongside the Irish Club bar which will be open all day.
Jon KTo soundtrack the bazaar browsing some top Manchester DJs will be spinning an eclectic mix of records all day. Jon K (Hoya Hoya), Nick Sinna (Prime Numbers), DJ Luke (B-Music/ Finders Keepers) and friends will ensure the day is more than just a market.
The Fleasy Street event aims to plug the gap left by the Beech Road Festival which was cancelled after fourteen years due to four times the expected number of people attending the event last year. Event organiser Rakhi Sinha hopes the event will show off the best of Chorlton’s creativity with an fresh take the traditional flea market.
She said: "I'm from Chorlton and adore how vibrant and diverse the area has become over the years. When we first came up with the idea of Fleasy Street, I immediately thought that Chorlton would be the ideal place to hold a music-orientated flea market highlighting the fusion of talent this city has to offer.”
