She’s hoping the people of Bolton will be able to send her to heaven…

McAlpine will be cooking alongside top Bolton chef Mike Harrison in The Vaults on Sunday 28 August at 1pm but it’s up to the audience to decide whether she has to make her food heaven or her food hell.

The bubbly soap star explained: ‘I’m really looking forward to joining in the fun at this year’s festival. I know it’s an amazing event and an extremely popular one.

‘I am slightly nervous about getting my food hell but I’m sure I can rely on the kind people of Bolton to choose wisely and give me my food heaven.’

As well as Jennie McAlpine and Mike Harrison, some of the country’s finest chefs will show off their culinary expertise in free cookery demonstrations throughout the festival, not to mention ticketed demos from the likes of John Torode, James Martin and Nadiya Hussain.

Michelin-starred chef Michael Caines, Aiden Byrne of Manchester House, Masterchef winner Simon Wood and celebrity chef Andrew Nutter are just some of exciting guests at this year’s event.

Leader of Bolton Council, Cllr Cliff Morris said, ‘We have a great line up of chefs once again. The festival has become the prime foodie event of the year for chefs and celebrities alike to be a part of so we are delighted to welcome Jennie McAlpine.’

25 free cookery demos with sixteen different chefs are taking place over the Bank Holiday weekend from August 26 -29 in The Lifestyle Hall at Bolton Market on Ashburner Street and also in The Vaults, the town’s newest dining destination, which can be found at The Market Place Shopping Centre.

The festival is organised by Bolton Council in association with Aldi. For details visit their website.
