FROM June 14 2013, Finnair will begin a direct service to Hanoi from its hub in Helsinki with three frequencies per week that connect smoothly with the corresponding Manchester airport flights.

Finnair will become the only European airline to operate a direct connection to the dynamic capital of Vietnam with a population of 6.5 million.

The Hanoi route, subject to regulatory approvals, will be operated during the summer schedule season, which lasts until Oct 27.

Hanoi is noted for its historic Old Quarter, French colonial architecture, and pilgrimage site Chua Huong, a network of Buddhist temples and shrines carved out of the limestone hills and tropical forests around Huong Mountain. Near Hanoi is Halong Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage site famous for its thousands of limestone isles.

In addition to Hanoi, Finnair operates services from Manchester to Bangkok, Beijing, Chongqing, Delhi, Hong Kong, Nagoya, Osaka, Seoul, Shanghai, Singapore and Tokyo. It flies twice a day from Manchester offering smooth fast connections onward to Asia. www.finnair.com
