THE trend of getting Asian-language tattoos hit its peak of popularity in the 1990s. Teens and tweens nationwide channelled their spiritual enlightenment through body ink, only to realise years on that their Chinese symbol for ‘Loyalty’ actually reads ‘Noodles’.

No, really...

Loyalty? Naaa mate...Noodles.Loyalty? Naaa mate...Noodles.

Luckily, the latest generation of cools kids are sticking with the English Dictionary for their permanent reminder of a temporary feeling. This time around, it’s fingers first.

Finger tattoos have been popular with celebs since Rihanna’s  ‘Shhh...’ tattoo down the side of her index finger and ‘Love’ on her middle finger. Lily Allen has ‘Shhh...’ too, but reportedly wishes she hasn’t, saying “I’ve since found out Rihanna’s got the same thing, so it’s not really… I mean she’s very cool – but I thought I was being original!”

And if you think those are extreme, take a look at some of these from fuckyeahfingertattoos.tumblr.com and tattooblogger.blogspot.co.uk.
