Five courses, five expertly matched wines, just £75 on the menu for The River Restaurant at The Lowry Hotel’s Wine Dinner.
HAVING our wines matched up with our food is one of our favourite things. A hassle-free evening out, no big decisions to make, a fresh glass with each course – really, what’s not to like? It gives us the chance to savour the dishes, enjoy the company and conversation going on around us, and try out new grapes we might never had ordered had we been left to our own devices.
One such pairing menu is the exclusive five-course Wine Dinner at The River Restaurant at The Lowry Hotel – a regular event that is back on Friday 29 March. Getting underway at 7.15pm, welcome drinks and canapés will be served in the library, when you’ll have the chance to meet your fellow diners and enjoy a sparkling wine made using the traditional method with 100% Marsanne grapes: the Saint-Péray, La Muse de Wagner 2012.
Savour the dishes, enjoy the company and conversation going on around us, and try out new grapes we might never had ordered had we been left to our own devices.
Moving on to the private dining room, you’ll be treated to a sit-down dinner from 8pm, when you’ll be able to experience the best that The River Restaurant has to offer with a spread of fantastic food explored alongside a range of unique world-class wines.
To start, you’ll be served poached Scottish salmon, with a watercress velouté and clam chowder to eat and a white wine: Lubéron, La Ciboise 2016; made with a blend of Grenache Blanc, Vermentino, Ugni Blanc and Roussanne.
For main course, rump of Cheshire farm lamb will come with caramelised chicken liver, smoked aubergine, mint jelly and compressed cucumber. The wine is a red Hermitage, Monier de la Sizeranne (Biodynamic) 2012, made with 100% Syrah grapes.
An indulgent dessert of peanut butter parfait, with rich 63% Michel Cluziel chocolate and salted caramel is paired with a 100% Grenache Noir Banyuls, 2015, that offers a hint of black fruits and cocoa aromas.
A board of regional cheeses rounds things off, to be enjoyed with water biscuits, fruit preserve and celery, and a glass of Hermitage, Chante-Alouette 2015, from 100% Marsanne Grapes, and Crozes-Hermitage, Les Meysonniers (Biodynamic) 2016.
These five courses of specially designed food with paired wines are £75 per person – but places are limited, so be sure to be quick!
