The Stables Tavern will join the flourishing St John’s neighbourhood

A new city centre tavern is due to open in the St John’s neighbourhood next week, designed to suit 'today’s lover of a proper pint'.

From Friday 6 June, The Stables Tavern - a new venture from operator Shiko Group, known for their popular city centre venues including Courts Club and Side Street -  will throw open its doors, serving local beers with complimentary bowls of crisps as well as other traditional bar snacks including handmade sausage rolls and locally-sourced pies.

The site, which was previously used as hit soap Coronation Street’s signature boozer the Rovers Return Inn, will have outdoor seating as well as a parlour area for live entertainment.

Hayley Sammé, Marketing Director, says: “We’re so excited to bring The Stables Tavern back to St John’s. The area’s extensive historical backdrop and burgeoning hospitality scene provides the perfect landscape for a traditional British pub. It’s the perfect addition to the existing scene, and we hope it’s going to become a popular spot in our new creative district.”
