NOT only is Dive one of Manchester’s best places to view this summer’s sporting action and get together with a lively events calendar, the subterranean social hub has a brand new desserts menu to boot. Arguably the stars of the show are four incredibly indulgent Milk Shakes that - niftily - can be transformed into Boozy Shakes for just £3 extra. For those who can’t decide between a dessert or drink, they’re the perfect compromise.
Niftily, milkshakes can be transformed into Boozy Shakes for just £3 extra
Confidential recently went to sample these sweet sensations (hard job, we know) and can confirm they’re every bit as delicious as they sound. A warning though, the below information might send you into a sugar rush...
First off is Reese’s Pieces, centred on Hershey’s famed peanut butter candy. It includes - you guessed it - peanut butter along with chocolate syrup, full cream milk, vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, mini Reese’s Pieces and a chocolate wafer for good measure. Like fellow milkshakes, it comes served in a jam jar with a colourful straw, on a plate dusted with yet more goodness; in this case, cocoa powder and a smattering of nuts. A definite Confidential winner. Want it boozy? Add a generous glug of Baileys and prepare for heaven in a glass.
No less Instagammable, Jam Doughnut actually boasts a full doughnut on top, pierced by a straw so you alternate between sipping and nibbling with perfect ease. Drizzled with raspberry coulis and a dash of icing sugar, it looks every bit as good as it tastes - no mean feat. Dive’s suggested alcohol for this baby is Chambord, to complement the existing coulis.
Candy Mountain, meanwhile, is recommended with Crème de Framboise for the ultimate fruity fun. A medley of sweet treats, this comes topped with a strawberry wafer and is akin to a candy chest of national favourites: mini marshmallows, jelly beans, hundreds & thousands... Well, why have just one confection when you can have several?
Last but certainly not least is Salted Caramel Brownie; a blend of chocolate ganache with scattered brownie chunks. A great option for those who like their sweet injected with a hint of savoury, its salty undertones are enhanced with broken pretzel pieces throughout. For extra naughtiness, order with Jamesons for a truly boozy bonanza.
Confidential’s advice? Order all four and share between friends - that way you can try every flavour. After all, these aren’t shakes you want to be missing out on...
