BUPA Electric Run is heading back to Manchester this September for its biggest and brightest mass participation run yet.

Grab your glow sticks and follow a ‘Colour Brick Road’ through immersive ‘Lands of Light’ to find a huge outdoor party awaits; announced by a celebratory wave of music as you cross the finish line. Who needs Oz’s Emerald City when there’ll be DJs, bars and stage performances here in MCR?

Put those worries on hold and lose yourself in a fantasy world of rainbows, neon jellyfish and electric seaweed

Part of Bupa’s 'Feel Great Britain' initiative, which aims to improve Britons' health and wellbeing through a dynamic range of activities, the event is open to all. Applicants can enter as individuals or gather friends and family together and run as a team of four or more. Whether you’re a pro runner or self-proclaimed couch potato, the emphasis is on electrifying those endorphins and having a fantastic time.

Dr Paula Franklin, UK Medical Director at Bupa, said: “Feel Great Britain is all about making people feel great through the mind, body and soul – and we’re so excited for the run to be taking place at Sportcity in Manchester later this year.

"Taking part in Bupa Electric Run is a fantastic opportunity to bring friends and family together and do something that makes you feel great.”

The healthcare company’s campaign to energise the nation launched earlier this year by revealing the top 50 things that make us feel great; and, according to Mancunians, there’s nothing quite like diving under the duvet to raise the spirits (no not that) as our number one was sleeping in a freshly made bed.

More alarmingly it was revealed that most Manchester residents only experience one ‘feel great’ moment a week as a result of high stress levels – meaning the Bupa Electric Run is an opportunity to put those worries on hold and lose yourself in a fantasy world of rainbows, neon jellyfish and electric seaweed.

As lack of confidence in trying new things was also a factor for 29% of respondents, it’s moreover a perfect chance to try something different – and raise money for a worthwhile cause whilst you're at it, as Bupa are encouraging entrants to raise money for their breast cancer charity sponsor.

Tom Naylor, spokesperson at Electric Run UK, said: “We are delighted to have Bupa on board as part of Feel Great Britain. Aligning the event with such a positive and feel good initiative is fantastic for our enthusiastic, budding runners from all walks of life and all ages. We hope that together we can inspire the nation to get fit in a fun way, no matter your age or sporting ability, whilst raising money for Breast Cancer Care."

The event takes place at Sportcity on Saturday 26 September at 6.30pm (doors close 11pm).
