The Pen and Pencil does the transition from daytime eatery to night-time party place with style.
Thursday to Saturday, they've got some of Manchester's best party DJs, including regular nights from Will Tramp and Disco Mums.
The vibe is friendly and relaxed – happy NQ folk exploring Pen and Pencil's vast liquor offering, and getting hooked in by one good tune after another.
April's calendar includes Dutch Uncles vocalist Duncan Wallis playing new wave, indie and alternative (Friday 22th), and Dan Wainwright mixing up house, disco, soul and psychedelic vibes (Saturday 30th). Thursday 21 April: Dave the Ruf
Northern Quarter wanderers can come together to enjoy a special mix of soul, funk, ska, hip hop and punk with guest DJ Dave The Ruf. He may even mix in a little disco, reggae, pop and rock classics for good measure.
Friday 22 April: Duncan Wallis
Swapping vocals for vinyls, Duncan Wallis steps away from his usual spot in front of the mic with the Dutch Uncles and goes it alone as he takes on the decks. Expect a mix of some new wave, indie and alternative tunes that are perfect for winding up for the weekend.
Saturday 23 April: Disco Mums
Disco Mums are an all-female, Manchester-based DJ collective of seasoned clubbers turned mothers. Expect to hear anything from soul, house, and techno, to disco, boogie, reggae, and italo-pop. No barriers, no restrictions, just proper good times.
Thursday 28 April - Thom Jackson
Playing an eclectic mix of surf, garage, pop punk, rock n’ roll, grunge and old school hip hop with some American rock thrown in for a hint of adolescent nostalgia, DJ Thom Jackson will have the NQ crowds bouncing to the beats. Start the weekend early at The Pen and Pencil.

Quality sounds to welcome in the weekend. Expect a mix of boogie, disco, house, techno, Balearic, garage, hip hop, electrofunk and basement from guest DJ Will Tramp.
Saturday 30 April: Dan Wainwright
DJ Dan Wainwright will be mixing up some smashing tunes to get the Saturday groove going. Expect a mix of house, disco, soul and psychedelic vibes ’til 2am.

Sam Flanagan takes to the decks at The Pen and Pencil blending and mixing indie music with elements of hip hop, rock, drum and bass, dance and everything in-between.
