THE owner of a Levenshulme cafe has been fined £2,000 for endangering her employees by leaving her premises in a hazardous condition.

Manchester City Council officers repeatedly warned Sanguan Lyons to fix a leaking roof and dangerously unsafe staircase at the Isis Cafe, Stockport Road, Levenshulme, but these instructions were ignored.
Officers found pools of water collecting on the staircase, which had no handrail and was in such a poor state that a slippery film of algae was discovered - putting staff at severe risk of falling when they used the stairs to carry hot food and drinks to customers.
Lyons, of Curtis Street, Levenshulme, pleased guilty to four offences at Manchester Magistrates Court on 26 September. Each offence drew a fine of £250, with Lyons also handed a £1,000 bill for legal costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
