Cottonopolis beats off tough London competition to scoop a brace of awards
Northern Quarter bar and kitchen Cottonopolis has edged out tough competition from a list of mainly London-based bars to scoop two gongs at this year's Imbibe 'Drink's List of the Year' Awards.
The competition, now in its third year, celebrates the bars with the most exciting drinks menus in the UK, from the 'Whisky List of the Year' to the 'Hotel List of the Year'.
It's the super-stylish menu to end all menus
Cottonopolis picked up the 'Avant-Garde' award for its third Edition cocktail menu inspired by Japanese idioms, with drinks including 'A Frog in a Well Knows Nothing of the Great Sea' (rum, mint, caramel, Chartreuse and Prosecco) and 'Even Monkeys Fall From Trees' (gin, more gin, peach, papaya, banana, ginger and other stuff).
A few of those and you could be 'Falling From Your Taxi With a Donner Kebab Knowing Nothing Much of Anything'.
Not only that, Cottonopolis also scooped the big one, 'Overall List of the Year', beating the likes of the Punch Room at the London Edition and Fifteen - Jamie Oliver's Hoxton bar and restaurant.
Judges said the Cottonopolis menu was unanimously chosen for its 'eye-catching design, strong concept and concise menu of cocktails'. "It's the super-stylish menu to end all menus in 2018", they added.
Cottonopolis said: "This is a huge achievement for the whole team, we’re absolutely over the moon. Now, time to celebrate..."
