WHO says you have to slow down for winter? If anything, The Pen and Pencil are turning it up with a jam-packed calendar right up until the New Year. Alongside the usual popular mix, plus an exclusive gin tasting with artisan brand SipSmith in November, they’ve taken traditional celebrations and given them a quirky twist. Forget Christmas carols, think festive hip hop - and prepare for an All Hallows Eve of distinctly boozy proportions.
Tuck into bottomless lunch and see off 2016 in style
Yes, Willy Wonka - not content with just a chocolate factory - is now also concocting another of our favourite things: cocktails. Dress up and drop in for the The Pen and Pencil Halloween special ‘Charlie & the Cocktail Factory’ on Saturday 29 October, 8pm-2am, to enjoy some of his exclusive wacky creations at equally wacky prices. With free entry, you don’t even need a Golden Ticket.
Next up is ‘Once Upon a Hip Hop Christmas’. Okay, we’re sure you like your office colleagues (most of them anyway) but wouldn’t it be nice to meet other workers from across the city? On Wednesday 14 December, you can do just that, with The Pen & Pencil’s one-off shared party: great for everyone from small businesses to couples to groups. Tickets cost just £20; including two drinks, three indulgent sliders and festive games and giveaways.
Worry not, they have your annual Yuletide do covered too. Take advantage of private room and bar hire, bespoke canapés and drinks packages and a delicious three-course menu featuring the likes of slow cooked pulled ham with caramelised onion jam, chestnut mushrooms in bourbon and soy and triple chocolate nut brownie. Email info@thepenandpencilnq.co.uk to book any Christmas event.
Fast forward to New Year’s Eve and The Pen and Pencil will be putting a new spin on their legendary bottomless brunch with...bottomless lunch. For only £35 (£10 deposit) tuck in from 2-5pm and see off 2016 in style. Email info@thepenandpencilnq.co.uk or call 0161 660 3303 to book.
Finally onto weekly happenings, with Happy Hour running Monday to Friday 5-7pm (all night from 5pm on Thursdays) and live music the first Wednesday of every month; showcasing freshly picked talent with Scruff Of The Neck Records. Check out #NMCSocial for more details - it’s free entry.
