PROMOTION
NOT content with food that whisks you to New York in a jiffy, the Pen and Pencil’s events and offers programme is also reminiscent of the Big Apple: busy, bold and hell-bent on a great time. From networking breakfast to bottomless brunch and regular live music, there’s something to pencil in everyone’s diaries.
First - though certainly not worst, as the old adage goes - is the Bank Holiday Bottomless Brunch. This brunch on steroids is the stuff of legend, with free-flowing food and booze from 10am-1pm. At just £35 you can have your fill of a specially-created menu, packed with favourites like Steak and Eggs and the Aylesbury Duck Bloody Mary. Saturday is sold out but there are limited places remaining for Sunday 28 August.
Don’t blame us if you’re still carousing ‘til the early hours
Bottomless brunch will thereafter be available from 10am-1pm every last Saturday of the month, with bookings now being taken for September and October. To reserve your spot, just email info@thepenandpencilnq.co.uk.
Think the bank holiday bonanza ends there? Wrong. Sunday 28 also sees the Indie Bank Holiday Party from 7pm ‘til late, starring Capital FM’s DJ Wingman. Entry is free, plus there’ll be special drink deals aplenty and punters can vote for their preferred Happy Hour offer on social media. Can’t say fairer than that...
Onto movie matters and the Cult Classics Film Night, which pairs iconic films with a £6 themed cocktail. The first five films and their corresponding concoctions include: No Country for Old Men(‘No Country for Old Mez’); Kill Bill Vol. 1 (‘We Love Elle Driver’); Bill And Ted’s Excellent Adventure (‘Bill And Ted’s Excellent Boilermaker’) and Kill Bill Vol. 2 (‘Texas Burial’). With any burger and a themed cocktail for a tenner, why not make an evening of it?
Happy Hour will be available every weekday 5-7pm. Take advantage of £15 bottles of Prosecco, 2 for £10 cocktails, £3 Modelo Especial and £10 bottles of house wine.
So that’s the end of the day sorted, but what about the start? Yep they’ve got that covered too, with a monthly networking breakfast club, Friday mornings 8am-10pm. Not only will there be complimentary breakfast canapés, alongside tea and coffee, a special guest speaker will also ensure food for thought: the next with Lurig’s Claire-Marie Boggiano on 16 September, followed by AHOY’s Mark Stringer on 7 October.
Ahead of the venue’s first birthday celebrations on 17 September, Pen and Pencil are also launching a new music collective that showcases emerging talent. Set to take place every month from Wednesday 7 September, the event is hosted by Scruff of the Neck Records and was inspired by the need for more of a local community in new music. Already attracting some of the best new bands, Wednesday’s line-up features the likes of SKIES and Calan Mai. Find out more here.
And, of course, don’t miss the longstanding popular DJ nights every Friday and Saturday night until 2am. With free entry and DJs playing an eclectic mix from 5pm, don’t blame us if you’re still carousing ‘til the early hours. Here’s what’s coming up:
