The UK’s premier cocktail festival is back in November
The UK’s leading cocktail festival is coming back to Manchester for a weekend of magical mixology on Friday 2nd and Saturday 3rd November.
New Century Hall (NOMA) will be taken over by the city’s best bars and the most creative bartenders who will each be working with innovative spirit brands to create some dynamic new limited edition drinks.
The former music venue and ballroom, which has played host to icons such as Jimi Hendrix and The Bee Gees, will be packed with pop up versions of Manchester's most illustrious bars - all within short sipping distance of each other.
The bars will be drawing from the four historically distinct eras of cocktail development
The bars will be turning out in force to deliver showstopping cocktails, the latest innovations in liquid refreshment, and one off signature serves, all in an attempt to win the votes of festival-goers, as they compete to be crowned ‘best cocktail bar’.
Bars confirmed so far include: The Alchemist, Anthologist Bar, Arcane, Cottonopolis, Fika, The Fitzgerald, Grafene, Guilty By Association, Harvey Nichols Second Floor Bar, Hula, The Liars Club, The Loft, Lost in Tokyo, Revolución De Cuba, School for Scoundrels, Science and Industry, Tast, Tattu, Vesper Bar and Wood and Co.
Drawing from the four historically distinct eras of cocktail development, bars will be taking inspiration from either the decadent Belle Epoque period of the late 1800’s, the speakeasy cocktails of prohibition, retro and disco drinks of the 1960’s to 80’s, as well as modern and futuristic concoctions.
Tickets cost £12 per person and include a cocktail on arrival. All additional cocktails are priced at £6.50 each. Guests will also be able to take part in a new immersive drinks experience at Cocktails in the City. The Tasting Rooms, hosted in partnership with leading online drinks retailer 31Dover.com, involves a thirty minute series of tasting sessions with three craft producers in a private setting.
Additional experiences include an interactive Espresso Martini masterclasses with Tia Maria and The Coffee Project, and foraged cocktails with The Botanist Gin.
Festival founder Andrew Scutts said, “After an incredible turn out in 2017 we are excited to be moving to one of Manchester’s most iconic venues featuring two floors of very differing personalities. From ballroom to warehouse in just a few short steps this will be an event unlike any other we have hosted before”
Cocktails in the City now host festivals all over the UK including London, Liverpool, Leeds and Edinburgh. This year, they will be expanding into the USA, hosting its second event in the trendy downtown area of Los Angeles.
