CAU restaurants are devoting August to raising money for charity Action Against Hunger with their fun-packed #CAUnival festival. It's a month of special events and one-off menus, including a show-stopping burger and a chance to win a trip to Buenos Aires.
The big one to play for will be a Quilmes-sponsored trip of a lifetime for two people to visit Buenos Aires.
#CAUnival is a 'festival of friendship' inspired by the Dia del Amigo – a public holiday in Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina devoted to celebrating the values of friendship, kindness and sharing.
The #CAUnival burger is the must-try food of the festival. Devised by barbecue sensation Christian Stevenson aka DJ BBQ, it's not for the faint-hearted.
It's a South American-inspired, 6oz cheese-topped beef burger comprising of tasty cuts of chuck, flank and brisket, supercharged with bone marrow, and topped with a smooth slice of Monteray Jack. Packed with big, juicy flavours, designed to get the senses racing, this burger comes with a generous topping of homemade chimichurri for that extra blast of heat.
For every #CAUnival burger ordered, £1 will be donated to Action Against Hunger. To provide some context, just £1 could provide a day’s nutritional supplies or therapeutic food for the treatment of a severely malnourished child.
Other treats on the special #CAUnival set menu include Pollo de Coxinha – classic Brazilian street food croquettes made with chicken and coriander, and Coconut Monk Fish – miso marinated fish cheeks in a coconut milk broth with ginger, lime and chilli.
Feeling lucky? A social media competition gives you a chance of winning weekly prizes including meals for four at CAU Didsbury, premium Spotify memberships, cases of CAU own-brand wine and pairs of Converse trainers.
