A TRIO of top chefs, Michael Caines MBE, Paul Heathcote MBE and Nigel Haworth, combined forces recently to host a series of charity dinners for Hospitality Action.
The three Patrons of the charity have helped raise even more cash that can be spent assisting those in need across the North West
Confidential was there to help close the series last month, as Nigel Haworth hosted the final dinner at Northcote Manor on Thursday 27 September.
Guests managed to raise £6,475 on the night which, when added to the money raised from Michael Caines’ dinner at his restaurant at ABode Manchester in March, and the money raised from Paul Heathcote’s dinner at Heathcotes Brasserie in Preston in May, forms a total sum raised of £20,330.
Hospitality Action is a trade charity that offers a crucial lifeline to people of all ages, working and retired, from the hospitality industry. Whether they are approached by a chef, chambermaid, school cook or bar staff, Hospitality Action will endeavour to support, whatever the difficulty.
Auctioned at the event were two signed chef’s jackets, donated by Tibard, and a unique opportunity to spend a day in the kitchen with Nigel Haworth and Lisa Allen, donated by Northcote.
There was also a luxury raffle featuring prizes such as an Illy coffee machine, a day’s racing and hospitality for two at Haydock Park race course, a set of Stephensons liqueur glasses, a meal for two with a bottle of wine at Australasia, and a family ticket for Tatton Park.
Tickets for the evening cost £100 per person, including wine. For that, diners enjoyed a champagne reception, followed by a five-course dinner with matched wines, plus coffee and petit fours.
The specially designed menu included highlights such as Wild Duck Wellington paired with Turckheim ‘Reserve’ Gewürztramminer, Roast Halibut with Morecambe Bay Shrimps paired with Waterkloof ‘Cape Coral’ Rose, and Slow Shoulder of Lamb paired with Domaine Boutinot Cairanne.
Paul Dermody, Chairman of Hospitality Action in the North West, spoke at the event. It was generously sponsored by Boutinot Wines, Illy Coffee, Wenlock Spring Water, and Paul Mellor-Bates of Mellor Bates Creative.
