TRADE and cultural links between the North West and China have taken a major step forward as Far East airline Cathay Pacific reveals it is launching direct Manchester to Hong Kong flights from December 2014. The four weekly flights to Hong Kong are expected to be followed by a service to mainland China in the next 12 months.
The Manchester service, from December 8, will be operated by Boeing 777-300ER and offer three-classes of travel, Business, Premium Economy and Economy.
Manchester Airport estimates that more than 200,000 people from within its area flew to Hong Kong via Heathrow or through other European hubs in 2013, and it believe a direct service will woo significant numbers of these, mainly business, travellers.
Inbound flights will arrive in Manchester from Hong Kong at 6.20am, every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Flights will depart from Manchester the same day, departing at 12pm and will arrive in Hong Kong at 7.55am every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
