CASTLEFIELD will celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee on Sunday 3 June with a one-day carnival for all the family.
The Castlefield Carnival canal-side event offers a full programme of fun activities, food, markets and music.
Castle Sands beach is set to host live music including: The Band Jackers, Bushart, Bedlam Shake, and Brainys Fiddle. Agent Smith will also do a live set at Dukes 92.
Castle Street will be closed to traffic and lined with picnic benches in the true street party style.

There will also be plenty to entertain the children; including a fun fair in the Roman Gardens, family games in Castlefield Arena courtesy of the Y Club, and for the energetic grown-ups, free Zumba classes.
The Museum of Science and Industry’s learning team will also be out and about doing science busking, and performing experiments for the kids.
Castlefield Artisan market will also be out in force selling hot food, crafts, gifts, and antiques. It will also have a vintage café, plus live music and dancing from the Hot Town Cotton Club.
Choice Restaurant will be joining the market, bringing a special British tapas food stall. Back at base they will be offering Sunday lunch, where customers can enjoy a free evening piano recital.
Bohemia will be bringing Covent Garden to Castlefield for the Jubilee, providing a range of street entertainment to charm customers enjoying the new outdoor drinking terraces all afternoon.
Carol Middleton, Chair of the Castlefield Forum, said: “We’re really grateful to all the local businesses, and event organisers, Blue Eyed Boy, for getting involved and offering such a terrific programme of entertainment which will really make the party go with a swing.
“This is going to be a very special family-friendly event which everyone can enjoy. We are lucky to live in a great city centre location which attracts thousands of visitors every year, and the Castlefield Carnival is an opportunity to showcase all that Castlefield has to offer.”
However, the Castle Sands fun doesn’t stop at the Jubilee Weekend. The following Sunday, Castlefield Basin will host Casltefield Jam – a beach BBQ with live bands and beach games.
Castlefield Carnival is open from 10am until late on Sunday 3 June. Music starts at Castlesands beach at 4pm until late. Agent Smith play at Dukes 92 at 4pm. Y-Club at Castlefield Arena is from 10am – 4pm. Zumba Classes will be held in the area at 11:30am and 2:45pm. Castlefield Jam is open from 10am until late on Sunday 10 June. Entry is free.
