The bar will offer over 60 different whiskies from around the world

Chorlton is set to welcome its first dedicated whisky and craft beer bar, with a bit of gin mixed in.

Cask & Kiln (not to be confused with Keg & Cask up the road) on the former site of Coopers bar on Wilbraham Road, comes from two former Black Dog employees, Aaron Wood and Jack Foster-Currie, and will offer a range of over 60 different whiskies from around the world, some rarely ever served in bars (especially suburban ones).

Fans of the spirit can enjoy measures of interesting whiskies sourced from the USA, Japan and Australia, as well as small-batch distilleries in the UK, including some produced on remote Scottish islands.

Closer to home, they’ll also be selling some independent Chorlton-bottled whisky including Burnside, Ledaig and eight-year-old Bealach Ruadh.

A gin and tonic menu of fifteen varieties will also be on offer including some locally produced gins, with some interesting guest gins making the odd appearance in the near future.

If spirits aren’t your poison, Cask & Kiln will also be selling a comprehensive range of 35 bottled craft beers and eight draft beers from breweries including Manchester’s ABC, Runaway and Track. There will also be a small selection of cocktails.

If the idea takes off, the owners plan to develop the concept of dedicated specialist whisky bars and roll it out across the UK.
