BEERMAKING is one thing, busy events diary management is another. Over in Ancoats, the Seven Bro7hers are successfully keeping both on track and the May calendar is filling up fast at Beerhouse, with some of our favourite regulars back, alongside some newcomers and one-offs.

Every week, there’s Live Music Thursdays, with a different performer taking to the mic; every month the Ancoats Book Club turns up to discuss a different novel on the third Wednesday.

On Saturday 4 May, the Beerhouse Kitchen Takeover is on again, following some finger-licking food from Dirty Franks in April. This time, there’s an international flavour to things, with fabulous Filipino cuisine from festival and pop-up fave Mama Z. Her meat-free meals promise to bring ‘a taste of Manila to Manchester’ and her banana ketchup, jackfruit pops and mushroom adobo are always a hit. But don’t worry, she’ll be cooking up some meaty options too.

The monthly Quiz Night, hosted by Charlie, continues on Tuesday 7 May, with prizes and fun up for grabs. Best get that general knowledge scrubbed up! A week later, on Tuesday 14, a special evening coinciding with Mental Health Awareness Week is booked in, featuring an inspirational appearance from Fighting Talk, an organisation which organises boxing classes for people with mental health issues. Expect an evening that packs a punch…

On Wednesday 22 May, the ever-popular hands-on experience of PopUp Painting takes inspiration from Pablo Picasso, themed around Picasso-influenced Annie Dalton’s Sleeping Dogs painting. Pint glass in one hand, paintbrush in the other, unleash your creativity, play around and get colourmatching to your living room.
