HOLD onto your bank accounts, blushing brides-to-be. The average UK wedding cost has been revealed and it is not budget-friendly.

Findings from Bridebook’s Wedding Report reveal that the average total wedding costs have reached a staggeringly high £26,989. Whilst those celebrating nuptials in the North enjoy marginally more modest weddings averaging at £17,000 (for the North West), the penny-pinching ends when it comes to that all-important dress.

On average, we Brits spend £1,385 on our wedding dress.

For some, spending what equates to 70% of your monthly salary** on a once-worn dress is justifiable; for others, it’s simply ludicrous.

Fortunately, there is an alternative (that doesn’t involve splurging your life’s savings or living off beans on toast for all eternity).

You can now head to the high street for your dreamy wedding look.

Whilst the suggestion of parading down the aisle in a high-street bought dress would have previously caused outrage amongst the bridal community, today’s high street brands are tackling the taboo of budget wedding dresses in the way they know best; by designing stunning yet affordable attire.

Ranging from as little as £22 to the high hundreds, high street retailers are making headlines with their budget bridal gear.
