POLICE have confirmed the body found in a canal in Salford this morning is that of missing 22-year-old Christopher Brahney.

Shortly before 9.35am, police received a report of a body in the Manchester Ship Canal, near to MediaCityUK, Salford Quays. Christopher was last seen by friends at about 11.30pm on Friday 29 June, when he was at the Stone Roses concert in Heaton Park, Manchester.

A post mortem examination is due to take place tomorrow.

It reads: 'It is with great sadness that on behalf of the Brahney family I am writing to you all. The police will be issuing a formal statement soon regarding the body that was found in the Canal this morning. At this time we believe that it is Chris, however formal identification has still to take place.
