The next specials kick off with the Ronaldo
CELEBRATING its tenth birthday, Byron hamburgers are having fun this summer rolling out six special burgers and limited-edition beers.
For the next fortnight, Byron is replaying the 2014 Football World Cup – kicking off on 1 August by bringing Ronaldo out of retirement. No, not the famous Brazilian striker – rather, the special burger, which is the star of the show until 14 August.
Well, it’s all going on here – a medium-rare patty, smoky bacon, melted American cheese, thinly sliced pickles, a dollop of ketchup and a good squeeze of French’s authentic American mustard. But what sets this apart from the norm is the onions – lovely unctuous buttered numbers and crispy fried versions.
It’s one helluva handful – and thirsty work! Just as well the special birthday beer – specially made just for this promotion – is a nice, hoppy pilsner: Fourpure’s Zehn.
Next up on the specials is the Gizzmo – created back in 2011 by TV chef Gizzi Erskine to coincide with Movember. Burger meets fancy cheese on toast for ultimate comfort foodiness – it’s the Byron take on Welsh rarebit. Mature and smoked cheddars are melted and combined with stout, Worcestershire sauce and hot English mustard then dribbled over the hamburger, served pink. Topped off with crunchy lettuce, nice ripe sliced tomatoes, red onion and mayo, in a non-glazed burger bun, it’s a cheeseburger with a bit of a kick, and it’s available 15-28 August.

Our can of the limited-edition Little Furry Animal white IPA from trendy craft brewers Beavertown made a great match, cutting through the hint of heat with a citrusy, almost tropical taste.
Be sure to grab a birthday burger and beer bundle for just £13 until 25 September – watch this space at the end of the month for details of the last two Byron specials...
