Red Bull City Trial returns for the third year running, where the world’s best trial riders race head to head in the heart of Manchester. Twelve times FIM Trial World Champion, Dougie Lampkin, will face his strongest line up to date at the third edition of the Red Bull City Trial in Manchester on Saturday 4th October 2014. SIBERIA: ON THE EDGE
Manchester Museum’s next exhibition Siberia: At the Edge of the Worldcombines some unique specimens such as a baby mammoth preserved in the permafrost, with stunning artefacts, rare objects and photographs. CITY LEGENDS TOUR
Forty six years to the day of his first professional Football League debut for Manchester City, Tommy Booth is set to front the first of the club’s popular and returning Legends Tour on Thursday 9 October 2014. In a career spanning decades, Tommy played 400 games for the club, scoring 25 goals, carried four cups and was capped four times by England.

WORLD'S END
From Saturday 11 October to Wed 17 December, Cornerhouse will present a specially curated programme of films and events to transport the viewer into the weird and wonderful world of science fiction.
The theme here is a cheery one, the end of the world. This selection of films and events, including War of the Worlds and 2001: A Space Odyssey, explores some of the film and literature of the great science fiction age, from the 1930s to the end of the 1960s, and shows how the fears that drive them remain current.

This October sees the Women in Comedy Festival return for a second bigger year. Running across Greater Manchester from Saturday 11 to Sunday 26 October, the festival features more than 125 acts in 80 shows across sixteen venues. BEHIND THE MASK
Behind the Mask, the biggest collection of BAFTA-winning actor portraiture ever assembled, comes to The Lowry for its first time out of London.
Featuring portraits of over one hundred international stars, Behind The Mask is a photographic census of actors and actresses who have won or been nominated for a BAFTA since 1954.
The exhibition is a collaboration between BAFTA Archive & Heritage and renowned celebrity photographer Andy Gotts MBE, who was sent across the globe to photograph subjects including Jeff Bridges, Al Pacino, Johnny Depp, Sidney Poitier and the late Lauren Bacall and Robin Williams.
