‘VICTORIAN gothic romance’ was the chosen theme for Manchester Fashion Industry’s stylish proceedings on Sunday 29 November.
So what did Manchester's fashion pack throw on? Queen Victoria chic, perhaps?
With style instruction from this year's high fashion catwalks, including Alexander McQueen, guests embraced their dark romantic side - which for the majority meant lashings of black eyeshadow, blood red lips and a lot of sheer black and strategically placed lace (and I’m not simply talking about the women here).
Manchester Fashion Industry, best known for hosting lavish parties with various themed dress codes (blue hues, neutral, monochrome), hosted their latest decadent event at Peter Street’s San Carlo Fumo to encourage the city’s fashionable types to network and take advantage of Fumo’s fully stocked bar.
Having already collaborated with names such as Selfridges, GQ, Wella, Rolls Royce and more, directors Remi Akande, Domain Esdale and Muhammed Jalal have aims to put Manchester's fashion brands 'on the map'.
The evening also allowed ample opportunity for two of Manchester's fledgling stores, online eveningwear store Sarvin and newly opened King Street menswear store Diverso, to showcase their designs in a fashion show. While not particularly adhering to the gothic romance theme, with no Wuthering Heights–esque billowy dresses and pussy-bow blouses, the designers displayed great wearable pieces perfect for sauntering around the city.
So what did Manchester's fashion pack throw on? Queen Victoria chic, perhaps? Or a little 1990s Cher?
