We think that means bar.

Belgian lager brand Heverlee has revealed plans to open Manchester's first ever 'contemporary Belgian internal beer garden' - which, having consulted with our in-house contemporary internal beer garden expert, we think means 'bar'.

Taking over a railway archway at Mayfield Depot in Piccadilly from 11th-13th October, the three-day 'micro-festival' (hold on, we though it was a contemporary Belgian internal beer garden?) aims to...

'Fuse Mancunian and Belgian cultures for a pop-up festival curated by some of both locations’ best known names in music, arts and food – transforming the derelict depot’s arches into a bustling European party hub.'

Are you ready for the three day micro festival/contemporary party space/Belgian internal beer garden?

They'll be Belgian-inspired street food (waffles then), projections, live street art, DJs, an on-site record shop and the chance to 'enjoy cold pints of Heverlee creamy pilsner style lager' - before the brand launches in Manchester this autumn.

According to this, the Heverlee recipe is based on a historical beer brewed by monks at the Abbey of the Order of Premontre, Leuven in 1129, but also 'rooted in the urban street culture of Belgium'... naturally.

Brand Manager Angus Lawrie said: "Heverlee is rooted in the urban street culture of Belgium (told you) and we see a reflection of that in Manchester and its people. We’re so excited to be bringing together a host of unique talent from Belgium and Manchester alike to create this immersive contemporary party space in Mayfield Depot.

“We can’t wait to see the fusion of homegrown Mancunian talent with some of Belgium’s best offerings in arts, music and beer. This will be many people in Manchester’s first taste of Heverlee and we can’t think of a better way for people to experience the beer and what it’s really about. We’re bringing an epic introduction to Heverlee for Manchester as we begin to roll out the beer in bars and stores around the city.”

So there you go, coming to Mayfield next month, a three day micro festival/contemporary party space/Belgian internal beer garden with an immersive twelfth century/urban street art vibe. With beer. And waffles. We think.
