Dream team from Vinyard and Pinchjo's are behind the new Manchester restaurant and bar
Have you been to “Manchester’s garden neighbourhood” Kampus yet? This once-neglected patch on the corner of Canal Street is blooming beautiful these days. The transformation of cobbled Little David Street alone is worth the visit to see the change to the area.
Being alongside like-minded independent businesses in the amazing surroundings of the garden neighbourhood is what attracted us to Kampus
Now with Breadflower, Pollen and the HUGE new Nell’s Pizza restaurant bringing their leavened goodness to proceedings, it’s becoming a serious destination. Great news for a part of town that he’s never been known as a culinary hotspot despite its residential appeal.
The latest addition to the area has now been announced. A new restaurant will be moving into the floor above the aforementioned Nell’s, overlooking the Kampus garden.
The Beeswing is a collaboration between wine expert Anna Tutton (the founder of wine bar Vin-yard, previously at Hatch) and Joe Maddock (of West Didsbury’s Pinchjo's tapas bar).
Named after a shimmering tartar crust formed on old wines (lovely!) which some say resembles the wing of a bee, The Beeswing (and its customers) will certainly benefit from Anna Tutton’s wine expertise. We are promised “a rotating list of delicious and interesting wines from small producers across the world”.
Expect to find wines you might not see everywhere available in the restaurant by the glass, carafe and bottle or to buy from the in-house shop to take home.
Details of what will be on the menu are a little thin at the moment with mentions of inspiration from the pair’s travels as well as “light bites and sharing plates” but the venue will be open for breakfast lunch and dinner.
Anna Tutton said: "We want The Beeswing to be a real neighbourhood bar. A warm and inviting place where you can come and enjoy a glass (or two) of wine and an hour turns into several without you noticing. We’ll be serving simple but delicious food, all day long, with an ever-changing menu using the best fresh local produce. Being alongside like-minded independent businesses in the amazing surroundings of the garden neighbourhood is what attracted us to Kampus and we can’t wait to be part of the community.”
Adam Higgins of Capital&Centric said: "This isn’t going to be some stuffy wine bar with intimidating wine lists. In true Kampus style, it’ll have a super relaxed vibe offering something a bit different to what you get elsewhere. It’ll also have Kampus’ very own wine shop where residents can come and grab a bottle on their doorstep. With Nell’s pizza and bar already open, Pollen and General Stores coming early next year and now The Beeswing, we’ve already got a really nice mix of indie businesses in the Kampus neighbourhood – and we’ve lots more to come!”
The Beeswing is chalked to open in March 2022 and you can bet Confidentials will be in for a nosey as soon as we get the chance.
