FROM the city that split the atom and created the computer comes another first – the UK’s first wedding in a bowling alley.
Manchester may be a mover and shaker in the world of science and industry but it certainly knows how to have a good time too as newlyweds Victoria Storey and Rob Barr showed when they got hitched at All Star Lanes bowling alley in Manchester city centre.
Church bells and choirs are not for everyone, so when Rob and Victoria were looking for the perfect venue, they were delighted when All Star Lanes was granted a licence to hold weddings and they could incorporate their love of bowling into their big day.
There’s no dodgy strip lighting or lurid carpets at All Star Lanes.
Everything has a classy 50s vibe which is perfect for those who like a vintage fix and the cool décor was something the couple really appreciated.
Victoria explained: “I love pop art and art deco and we just loved the way the venue is decorated.”
The red carpet was rolled out, quite literally, and Victoria walked down the bowling lane carrying a red posy in the shape of a bowling ball to say ‘I do.’
After tucking into a veritable feast of buffalo chicken wings, macaroni cheese and pulled pork which beats the staid offerings of most weddings hands down, it was back on to the lanes for a wedding disco with a difference as the bowling shoes went on and the pins started flying.
All in all, a perfect ten.
