Allied London has released details about its short-term vision for the Granada Studios site in Manchester via a newly launched website.
“At this stage, we are looking at what can and can’t be achieved and what will be or won’t be appropriate."
Last Summer, Allied London and Manchester City Council announced a deal, conditional on planning consent, to purchase ITV’s 13.5 acre Quay Street complex in Manchester City Centre for £26.5m. Allied London will take a five-year lease of the studios, while working up redevelopment plans, and will be looking to use the estate immediately from April this year, when it is due to take possession.
The new website offers a vision of how Allied London plans to shape the site in the short to medium term, as these long term development plans are progressed.
This short to medium-term plan offers a vision of a new arts and cultural destination for Manchester; a location that provides the space for pop-up markets, vintage and fashion fairs, creative workspace, events, live music, theatre and arts.

Michael Ingall, Allied London Chief Executive, said: “Today we’re setting out the vision we have for the Old Granada Studios site and how it could be managed in the short-term. It may be that, if successful, some of these short-term uses could remain in the medium-term and some even long-term, if they fit into a long term masterplan.
“We have started the process of making this vision into a reality and want to hear from like minded organisations who can share and the vision that can help bring the site to life with us.
“At this stage, we are looking at what can and can’t be achieved and what will be or won’t be appropriate. Once we have an idea of the level and depth of interest and viability of any plans we will then enter the appropriate consultations and obtain approvals for any plans we may have.“
Allied London will be announcing its vision for the long-term plan shortly, currently referred to as St John’s Quarter.
