A local charity is bringing a kaleidoscope of colour to Manchester this spring with its latest fundraising event.

St Ann’s Hospice is asking people from across the city to sign up to join them for a very special rainbow fun run to raise essential funds to care for local patients.

The St Ann’s Hospice Colour Run is a 5k sponsored event, with participants being showered with multi-coloured powder paint as they walk, run or jog the route.

The event will be taking place in Wythenshawe Park on Sunday 20 March and the fun starts at 11am. Throughout the untimed race, participants are covered in different coloured powders – a safe, environmentally friendly corn starch.

Alison Gilbody, Director of Income Generation and Communications at the hospice, said:  “In the New Year many people start to think about getting fit or taking on new challenges, and the Colour Run will be a great way of easing into that new regime whilst having a huge amount of fun.

“We depend on local supporters to keep the hospice running, as we have to fundraise around £16,000 every single day to continue to care for our patients and their families.  The beauty of this event is that it’s perfect for all ages, so it's a great thing for families to get together on a Sunday morning and take part in.  Everyone likes to get a bit messy, and this is all in the name of a good cause.”

In addition to the Colour Run, there will also be a selection of stalls and other activities for all of the family to enjoy on the day.

Each Colour Station is being sponsored different companies including PJ Livesey, IPS Property Services, Stephen Glicher & Co Chartered Accountants and Harold Stock and Co Solicitors, with opportunities still available for other local businesses to get involved in sponsoring other stations and other elements of the event. Details are available from the hospice – just call 0161 498 3631.
