This summer, Manchester becomes a garden city. From Saturday 3 - Sunday 11 August, urban gardening festival Dig the City is back – bringing food, flowers, a forest and a fête, markets, workshops and 100 tonnes of soil to the streets between King Street and the Cathedral.

Monty will entertain guests with tales of his life, loves, passion for horticulture and the beautiful gardens he has been fortunate to visit

Digthecity75Part of the horticultural line-up is a talk by one of the UK's favourite TV gardeners Monty Don – and here's your chance to win tickets.

We're giving away two tickets for An Evening with Monty Don - Down the Earth. Monty will entertain guests with tales of his life, loves, passion for horticulture and the beautiful gardens he has been fortunate to visit.

It's the second of two talks he's giving on Saturday 3 August in Exchange Square. The first is titled 'Is Gardening Only for the Middle-Aged?'. Tickets for these events are just £5. Buy Monty Don tickets.

Monty has been a familiar face on TV for over twenty years. He's a long-time presenter of Gardeners' World and has recently hosted the series Italian Gardens and French Gardens. He's published over twenty books, including The Sensuous Garden and Urban Jungle.

An Evening with Monty Don - Down the Earth takes place on Saturday 3 August 2013, at 6pm in Exchange Square.
