DUST off your dancing shoes and warm up your vocal chords as the Museum of Science and Industry’s #HookedOnMusic Silent Disco returns.
Science and music will once again battle it out on Wednesday 23 March (7pm to 10pm). While the DJ plays the latest floor fillers – the #HookedOnMusic scientists will be studying the floor to see if it’s the catchy music that drives people to boogie or if it’s more about social influence and environment.
The dance floor is set for attendees to show off their best moves and experience the unique nature of a silent disco in one of Manchester’s most iconic buildings.
A DJ will be mixing up the soundtrack for the evening and refreshments will be available at the fully functional bar.
The silent disco will support scientists in their research of the ‘dance-ability’ of songs and an overhead camera that encompasses the whole dance floor will help them investigate the effect that catchy tracks have on the silent disco attendees. The results will help Dr Ashley Burgoyne conclude exactly where the sweet spot lies between music, science and social influence.
