WE have very sketchy memories of the Confidential Christmas party at Neighbourhood but one thing we can recall, before it all got a bit blurry, was that the food was blinding.
If you've not been to this new Manhattan-inspired restaurant and bar in Spinningfields yet – go. It's got some of Manchester's most exciting food, in sharp, glam surroundings.
The menu is 'casual fine-dining' – a formula which translates into dishes such as
Baked lobster mac and cheese, and Shrimp, crackle and pop (aka jumbo shrimp, shellfish bisque, Rice Krispies and shrimp chips).
There's also plenty of less out-there dishes: pizzettas and pastas, such as the Wild mushroom rigatoni with mascapone, chives and parmesan. The 12oz steaks we had were divine – perfectly cooked, packed with flavour.
Others have raved about the breakfasts. We've got our eye on the American one with eggs, smoked pancetta, sausage links and a buttermilk pancake stack.
For lunch try the Reuben Sandwich (rye bread, beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut and cocktail sauce) if you want to feel like you're lounging in a hipster diner in Brooklyn.
Have a look at the Neighbourhood Menu. There'll be something on there that intrigues you.
