MANCHESTER'S first ever Dig the City Urban Garden Festival is about to bloom into life. From 24 to 29 July, flowers, gardens, and allotments will bring colour and beauty to the medieval quarter of the city centre.
Amongst the attractions will be themed gardens including a Mad Hatter's Tea Party in the Corn Exchange and an Olympic Garden in Exchange Square. There'll also be guerilla gardens, a sunflower corner, flower markets, workshops, and much more – most of it free.
In Manchester Cathedral, there'll be a ticketed event that could prove to be the highlight of the festival. A spectacular display of over 30,000 stunning cut flowers will adorn this already beautiful building.
The display will be the largest in the North West and will rival major cathedrals in the South. It will depict themes of music through the ages and the Diamond Jubilee – we can't wait to see it.
Outside the Cathedral there will be a Diamond Jubilee Marquee, hosted by Harvey Nichols. You can go there for morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea, all under the fitting theme of a 'Great British Tea Party'.
In this competition, one person will win a champagne afternoon tea for four at the Diamond Jubilee Marquee, and four tickets to the Manchester Cathedral Flower Festival, on a day of their choice.
