CHECK out these dishes hidden away on the 'Specialities' section of Zaika's menu. Based on the cuisine served to the royals of the Indian sub-continent, they feature palatial platters of whole lambs, whole chickens and whole red snapper, marinated and stuffed with authentic spices and fillings.
The headline option is the Whole spring lamb (£295) which feeds 12-15 people. The lamb is marinated in yoghurt, fresh ginger, garlic, garam masala and saffron for at least six hours, and is stuffed with rice, boiled eggs, new potatoes and fresh herbs. It's then baked in the oven and served with Muglai curry sauce, plain naan bread and a mixed salad.
There's also three more modest options designed to be shared by two people:
The Raan special (£50) is a whole leg of lamb marinated in yoghurt, garam masala, fresh ginger, garlic and saffron, and served with new potatoes, pilau rice and plain naan bread.
The Murgh mussalum (£30) is a whole skinned chicken delicately spiced and tenderly oven cooked, and stuffed with Kashmiri-style filling and served with pilau rice and plain naan bread.
The Shahi machhli (£40) is a whole red snapper of grey mullet marinated in delicate Indian spices and stuffed with a Bengali-style filling. It's served with spicy vegetables, pilau rice and plain naan bread.
If you have a special occasion coming up, why not eat like a king and queen for the night by ordering one of these?
Order in advance though. Preparing these dishes takes time so you can't just rock up and demand a whole lamb be brought to your table. For all these dishes, you need to telephone Zaika on 0161 839 5111 at least eight hours in advance to give the chefs time to source the ingredients and create your regal feast.
And if you enter this competition, you and a friend could enjoy one of these dishes for free. The prize is either the Raan Special, the Murgh Mussalum, or the Shahi Machhli, plus a bottle of house wine to share.
