GOOD news for citizens who frequent the southern stretch of our city centre. Black Dog Ballroom has just opened a brand new bar on New Wakefield Street off Oxford Road, in the building where Pure Space once stood.

The Black Dog team are making the most of this three-floor venue (and its lovely roof terrace). There's a subterranean club below called Underdog, a bar, diner and pool tables on the ground level, and barbecue food and drinks up above.

It's all done in the NYC Speakeasy-style that defines the Northern Quarter Black Dog. Early reports say the atmosphere is mirrored as well – a good crowd enjoying good music and a friendly vibe.

And in this competition, you can win a workday lunch there for up to five people, including any main meal, sharing platters between 2 and either carafe of house wine for five or 5 pints of Carlsberg draft.

The diner-style menu was created by Anthony Fielden of the Northern Quarter Restaurant – so although it's casual dining, it's done with care. Locally sourced ingredients and fresh produce are the theme here.

The menu features brunch dishes, fresh salads, flame-grilled burgers, homemade gourmet pizzas, indulgent desserts, and more. Perfect for lunch times or afterwork eats.
